Mark Deutschmann [Village Real Estate Services] was mentioned in the Nashville Business Journal a few weeks ago. The story highlighted Mark as a principal at Core Development, which is planning a new cottage-style residential project on the far west side of Sylvan Park.

Alex Tolbert’s [Bernard Health] guest column appeared in the Tennessean on Sunday. In the column, Alex discussed the difference between a “customer” and “consumer.”

Also a guest columnist for the Tennessean, Andy Bailey [Petra] discussed how important it is to take time building your team and steps on how to ensure you hire “A” players.

Andy Bailey was also in the Nashville Post’s spring issue, where he was quoted on the value he places on spending time away from work with his children.

Andy appeared on CEOBlogNation.com as a guest blogger. He wrote about the difference between having a job and having a business.

Alan Looney [Castle Homes] was quoted in an article in Sunday’s Tennessean about Castle Home’s Southern Living Idea House. The story noted that the home will become a luxury B&B and event center.

Clint Smith [Emma] appeared in the Nashville Post’s spring issue. The feature depicts Emma’s journey as a business.

The Nashville Business Journal’s first CEO Roundtable section featured Jeff Turner [Turner Machine Co.] and Jon Aron [The Pasta Shoppe]. The CEO Roundtable was focused on manufacturing. You can read more here and here.

Clint Smith was also mentioned in the Nashville Business Journal’s article last Thursday. Clint was one of a few panelists at last week’s Nashville Business Journal Entrepreneur Exchange event. He, with the other panelists, agreed that to make a sale, try giving it away first.

Patterson House‘s [Ben Goldberg] cocktail, Smoking in the Armchair, was named Esquire‘s cocktail of the week Feb. 18. The cocktail includes Nashville’s own Corsair Artisan Distillery [Darek Bell] spiced rum.

Comfort Supply [Clay Blevins] was featured in HVACR Business’ January/February issue. The article focused on why and how to use YouTube to expand your brand awareness.

Medalogix [Dan Hogan] was highlighted in Caring Magazine’s recent issue. The article was an exploration of three leading health care technology innovators who have responded to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

Jeff Turner’s [National Storm Shelters] game plan for staying safe this storm season with the right shelter appeared in Acreage Life Magazine this month.

James Fields’ [Concept Technology Inc.] bi-weekly column appeared in The Tennessean on Sunday. In this week’s article, James discussed the benefits of versioned replication as a means to backup your files.

Nashville Scene posted a “How did Nashville get to be the it city” timeline which mentioned two EO Nashville members’ companies:

  • Bongo Java [Bob Bernstein] which, in 1993, opened as the first coffeehouse to establish a lasting foothold in Nashville. The Scene also noted 1996 as the year Bongo Java’s “Nun Bun” made national headlines.
  • Catbird Seat [Ben Goldberg], which opened in the fall of 2011, for getting immediate acclaim from The New York Times, GQ, The Wall Street Journal, the Today Show and more.

InQuicker.com [Michael Brody-Waite] has gotten lots of press recently. Last Friday, the Nashville Business Journal featured the company twice. Click here and here to see the stories. News-Line for Home Care Professionals featured Medalogix‘s [Dan Hogan] new software, Medalogix 2.0. The newly-released software is the newest version of the company’s post-acute specific predictive modeling software.

David Waddell [Waddell & Associates] appeared in this week’s Nashville Ledger. In his column, David discusses the saying “As goes January, so goes the rest of the year” and the likeliness that a strong January predicts a strong annual return.

It’s time for another “In the News” recap:

On August 20, Forbes ran a story about InQuicker [Michael Brody-Waite] and its lack of venture capital fundraising. The article “Health Tech Start-Up InQuicker Shuns Venture Money and Hype” talks about the company’s growth sans VC money.

A Sunday Tennessean article talked about Emma’s [Clint Smith] new digs in the Trolley Barns and new initiatives as a company.

Paramore | the digital agency [Hannah Paramore] is opening an outpost in West Virginia, a fact covered by the Nashville Business Journal on Tuesday.

If you haven’t had a chance to read David Waddell’s [Waddell & Associates] column in the Memphis Daily News, take a few minutes to do so. His August 15 column, “Economic Outcomes Remain Up in Air,” discusses how the economy remains uncertain, and in his August 23 column, “Facts, Feelings Go Hand in Hand,” David gives us all an investment lesson.

Andy Bailey’s [Petra Coach] weekly column for the Tennessean stresses the importance of daily meetings.

On Thursday, August 23, Variety profiled Scott Scovill and the path he took to start Moo Creative and Moo TV.

Friday’s Nashville Business Journal included a story about Nashville-based mergers and acquisitions, using Greg Greenwell’s [TotalPrint] recent purchase of Brooks Technology Management as an example of the trend.

EO Nashville Members in the News: InQuicker; Top Influential Nashville Entrepreneurs; Nicholas Holland; Best Places to Work

We’ve seen a great number of EO Nashville members and member companies in the news recently, and wanted to share these sightings.

First off, the Nashville Post covered InQuicker.com [Michael Brody-Waite] and its recent announcement of a new partnership with Team Health.

Nashpreneur.com also recently listed its Top 30 Influential Nashville Entrepreneurs, a collection of local business owners who Nashpreneur believes “are influencing the local community and in some cases, other parts of the world.” The list includes the following EO Nashville members,

Inner City 100The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) and Fortune magazine announced today its winners of the 2012 Inner City 100, a list of the fastest-growing inner city companies in America. We’ve happy to report that three EO Nashville member companies made the cut:

In the November/December issue of Nashville Post magazine, which came out Friday, four EO Nashville members and their companies were honored as part of the Best Employes and Tech 25 lists.

The Post used employee research company, The Work Institute, to help build its Best Employer list. Employees of nominated companies had to fill out a questionnaire that collected information on employee benefits, financial incentives, job satisfaction and a variety of information that was designed to gain perspective on the employees’ view of the company.

1 in 4 Nashville Area Companies to Make the 2011 Inc. 500|5000 List are EO Nashville Members

Of the current 88 EO Nashville members, 15% have been named to the Inc. 500|5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America.

EO Nashville member companies also make up 25% of Nashville-based companies on the Inc. 500|5000 list. Statewide, EO Nashville members account for 12% of Tennessee-based companies on the list.

According to the magazine, companies are chosen for the list by comparing revenue growth from 2007 to 2010. Companies must be U.S.-based, privately held, independent, for-profit and not a subsidiary or division of another company. Revenues in 2007 must have been at least $100,000 and at least $2 million for 2010.
