Operation EO — This Sunday — Will You Be There?

This Sunday, April 13, EO Nashville members and their families will roll up their sleeves and purchase, pack and deliver the ingredients for an Easter feast to 160 area families in need.

The new “Operation EO” event will take place between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. at Parmer Park, located at 578 Leake Avenue just off of Belle Meade Boulevard.

“Entrepreneurs give back to our community by creating jobs, and additionally it’s really impactful when entrepreneurs and their next generation can give back to the community in more ways than one. That’s what this event is all about,” said Tim Ozgener, community chair for EO Nashville and president and CEO of OZ Contemporary Arts Center.

Easter-foodOrganized as “a family outing serving other families in our community,” each EO Nashville member and his or her family donated $90 to partake in the event, which will provide two families with a meal box that includes an Easter Ham, green beans, potatoes, etc.

Dry goods and fresh items will arrive en masse at Parmer Park around 1:30 p.m. for EO families to sort, pack and deliver to one of five benefiting nonprofits: KIPP Academy, Martha O’Bryan Center, McNeilly Center and Safe Haven Family Shelter.

“The idea behind this event came from other likeminded entrepreneurs who were frustrated with the lack of charities that would allow children under the age of 10 to volunteer. They started a child-friendly service project to deliver Thanksgiving meals to Nashville families in need,” Tim explained. “It was initiated to expose our young kids to those less fortunate—to give children an appreciation of the gifts they have and to instill the value of empathy through giving back to Nashville’s community.”

Tim continued, “Especially around the holidays, Easter in this case, the lack of funds for these families to enjoy a decent meal becomes even more acute. The few hours your family gives to make this happen you will more than receive back with a full heart.”
